Not a happy camper with WDSCi (6.0.1 with all current patches and current
with XP pro SP2).

Just spent all of last Friday and most of today debugging four RPGLE
programs (all edited and debugged with SEP). I found that many of the
changes I was making in RSE were NOT being saved to the i.

I actually used the green screen debugger today and that's where I noticed
code I had added last week was NOT on the i!

I don't work offline, and have the wdsci preferences set to use minimal
caching in an attempt to avoid these kind of problems.

I'm the evangalist for this product in our shop and these last two
business days dealt a severe blow to my perception of the product. Up to
this point I hadn't experienced any issues saving source code, although
the debugger has been quite flaky at times (it just hangs or SEP's don't
kick in - ususally requiring a reboot).

Now I'm not so sure about the integrity of saving source code....

To the developers... the cache has to be updated regularly. It must be
updated whenever I open a source member that resides on the i regardless
of whether it was opened with RSE or SEU. Currently if I edit in SEU, and
refresh with RSE, the changes AREN'T being reflected. When I opened source
in SEU my changes were not there. I had to use RSE and do a SAVE AS to
actually save the source in RSE that included my change - but doing that
didn't include any of the source text comment data when viewed in SEU.

Any clues as to how to prevent these cache problems in the future?

In my workbench settings I have it set to refresh the workspace
automatically. In the workbench local history I have all three values set
to '1'.
I also have the workbench set to refresh on startup.

Under iSeries projects, build and compile, I have 1 as the # of days to
keep temporary files on the remote system. It won't let me specify 0.

Under remote systems, file cache, max cache size is not checked.
Under remote systems, iseries, cache, I have disable caching checked.

And those are all of the 'cache' type settings I'm aware of.

I love this product and want it to work but this was not a pleasant
experience.

Regards, Jerry
