Bob,

This is actually not accurate. In V5R4, SEU was enhanced to syntax check free form RPG.

David,

One very key issue is the fact that SEU and other 5250 based tools were
"stablized" in Febrary of 2001 and other than insuring that they run on the
current versions of i5/OS have not been enhanced and will not be enhanced.
With the new WDSC "Lite" install option the old arguments about performance
are no longer valid. If you want full support for all the latest features
in the LPEX editor for RPG-IV, COBOL, and CL not mention the WDSC embedded
editors for display files, etc. and all the new stuff coming soon in V7.

I'm old enough to remember when folks switched from coding forms and key
punches to "terminals". It can be traumatic for the folks, but once they
get past the pain, the benefits are incredible. Have you looked at RSE with
its Actions as a replacement for PDM? Totally awesome! WDSC takes a bit of
getting used to, but once you find all the key goodies, it offers tons of
benefits over the stone and chisel!
