P.S. I know that I can open spooled output in an editor window, but I
don't
like that as it displays a blank line after every print line and does
not
paginate reports correctly.

The purpose of the spooled file plugin is solely to help programmers
working in WDSC. So all we care about is being able to view compile
listings and joblogs. These are OK, not perfect, in text mode.

If the IBM Toolbox provided options to provide better results we would
certainly use them, but the main issue is that we had no desire to write
our own code that could read a raw spooled file and convert it into
something like a PDF. We just used what was available in the Toolbox.

I cannot imagine what IBM viewer he was referring to. I am sure there
is not one in WDSC. As you are aware, OpsNav provides good spooled file
support.

I mean the Java one that comes up if I use RSE Extensions to find spool
files, then Right-click and choose 'View'.

I thought that was provided by IBM's jt400, based on your comments in a
earlier thread.

Ahh. OK.

The viewer itself is part of JT400, but we add the option to our list of
spooled files to execute it. In other words, we could have just left
that option off of the menu if we wanted. We are in control of the
option being there, just not how it behaves after we fire it off.
