The problem might be that the underscore is a single-character wildcard in SQL - this is a little-known gotcha, seems to me.

There is a bug in the data perspective when you create a new connection in the database explorer view. When you create a new iseries connection (right click and New Connection) then if you change the default filters 'NOT LIKE SYS%' by a library with underscore int it (for example U_MyLIB) and click finish.
You cannot see any tables in our schema.
Then click the menu Filters, you see that your library name has been translated to 'U MyLib' the underscore has been changed by a space.
If you correct the filter then you can see your tables.
Maybe that can be fixed in the next release...
