Here's a method I use to easily find compile listings and job logs:

(This method also uses the SoftLanding RSE extensions.)

1) In Preferences, under Remote Systems, iSeries, Command Execution:
    a) I check 'Compile in batch'
    b) I also check 'Add batch compiles to the iSeries Job Status view'
2) Using the iSeries Job Status view, right-click and select 'Spooled
Files'
3) Double-click to open the joblog or compile listing.

Sometimes it takes a while to open larger spoolfiles, but I find this
method very workable.

From WDSc, in the iSeries Commands Log view, I type "CRTPGM PGM(l/p)
BNDSRVPGM(s)" and press ENTER.

It returns:
Program &1 not created.
Cause . . . . . : The program &1 could not be created in the library
&2. Recovery . . . : Display the job log to determine why the program
could not be created (DSPJOBLOG command). Correct the errors and try
the request again.
