I don't use verify much, but I noticed that the verify was very slow as
long as I was still connected to the iSeries.

Once I disconnected from the iSeries the verifies were super quick.
Much, much faster than a compile.  I must admit to running (at home) a
2Ghz dual-core Opteron w/1MB cache on each core and 1GB RAM however ;-)
