One possibility is a setting for logging errors and warnings, etc. I forget where it is - somewhere in Windows->Preferences. If set to all it writes a copy of everything to a log file, and this can take a lot of time.

I don't have a running version at hand, so can't tell you where to look. I had posted on this some time ago, so maybe search the archives for "error log" or some such.

It doesn't start out taking a long time - it increasingly takes longer.

The cl pgms have over 1000 lines of code - if size matters.
