The order should have been for a refresh - did your BP order it new? I have never had to worry about the VRM of the iSeries when ordering the refresh, IIRC. But then I downloaded this one, so I forget. ;-)

Refresh order number is in the announcement, I think.

FWIW, when I asked our IBM rep to order V6 for me, the configurator

requires V5R3.

I didn't see that listed on the fact sheet as a requirement, but when we
combined the V6 order with a V5R3 upgrade, the order went through ok.

Charles,

You probably have it qouted as they said. I'm sorry, I misquoted.

One of the guys in our shop suggested maybe IBM has a supply of
the old ones already and are going to use them up so they don't
waste them.

Andy,

Talk about dissappointing1 You do what they say, and still get the
old stuff. Bummer! Could your order have just been one of the first
IBM got?

Wonder how many of us will end up in your situation.

Dwight

You sure about that "on or before?" As I read it, orders before 7/29
would
be v5.1.2 but orders on 7/29 would be v6.

"Effective on July 29, 2005, V5R2 and V5R3 5722-WDS new orders will have
entitlement of the new V6.0 workstation tools, IBM WebSphere(r)
Development
Studio Client for iSeries(tm). Before July 29, 2005, the V5.1.2
workstation
tools will be the entitled client tool."

I ordered mine on 7/29....

I guess we'll see when it gets here.
