Belay my last...that fixed it...thanks Aaron! I had to go to
Window->Preferences->iSeries->Command Execution and then unchecked Compile
in Batch. It now compiles interactively and produces my event file. I
checked the archives at
http://archive.midrange.com/wdsci-l/200208/msg00008.html there was a Q&A
about QRSEEXEC...that's a program that allows batch commands to be executed.

But this works fine...thanks again!
