Hi Peter, you will need to use the VARPG ODBC part, embedded SQL only works
with DB2.

Hi group,

A few days ago I inquired on this forum about random numbers in VARPG.

I have meanwhile discovered that I can simply use the rand() function in
MSVCRT, which seems more or less to correspond with QC2LE on the iSeries.

However, someone also mentioned using MySQL as a database server.

My question now is, whether you can simply use embedded SQL to address a
MySQL server, or that you need to use the ODBC/JDBC part, which seems to
be a lot more complex.

I could not find any reference to this in the manual nor in the archives.
Google only turned up some resumes of people knowing both VARPG and MySQL.

Thanks in advance.
