LPEX options entry "missing" in preferences

In the class we are running this week, about 70% of the PCs do not have the
LPEX preferences option available.  The secondary one that appears under
Remote Systems / iSeries is present but not the main one at the root level.

Has anybody discovered a cure for this "feature"?

All systems are running a mix of XP and 2000 but there is no correlation
between OS and which machines are missing the feature.

All systems running WDSc 5.1.0.2
