If you experience problems with:
- plugin resolution, (ie. can't find plugins etc.)
- JLpex problems after installing additional tooling
- Newly installed plugins do not seem to be enabled

The following 3 steps will resolve these issues:

Step 1: Shutdown the product

Step 2: Change to the directory which contains the "eclipse.exe" executable
- cd C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere Studio\Site Developer\V5.1\eclipse

Step 3: Launch the following command to update your workspace NOTE: this
command takes a few minutes
- eclipse.exe -initialize -nosplash -data <Drive>:\<workspace_name>
- example: eclipse.exe -initialize -nosplash -data c:\wdsc\workspace

This can be executed against any workspace that has the above mentioned
problems. Basically, this command forces the tooling to re-evaluate what
has been installed, and resets the product data which is stored in the
workspace. Please note, this command does not modify or impact any
projects in the workspace.

Also, we are aware of what has caused this problem, and it has been
addressed in the next release.

Thanks.

People seem to be getting this problem under a variety of situations
lately, I am not sure why. Generally, it is due to a problem in the
configuration that WDSC 5.1 installed with. If you have gone through the
Install/Update process so that you are now at WDSC 5.1.0.2 in theory you
shouldn't be having this problem because it was supposed to have been
fixed.

Do you know what version of WDSC you have installed now? Perhaps a new
problem has been introduced as in the past this problem never manifested
itself in the Install/Update process, only when updates were applied
externally and you had to confirm them, such as when you have multiple
workspaces.

I think IBM might be looking into the recent rash of these problems, so
perhaps they will chime in with some new info.

Has anyone seen the following error?

After clicking the "Install Now" button for the spooled file plug-in
from SoftLanding, I get a message that says "Current configuration
contains errors that are not corrected by the requested operation. See
details for more information."

The details button reveals this: "LPEX Editor Preferences (1.4.2):
Feature requires plug-in "com.ibm.lpex(1.4.2)", or compatible" and
"WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries (5.1.0): Feature
requires feature "com.ibm.lpex(1.4.2)", or compatible".

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Steve
