I experience problems where WDSC seemed to forget where my Java programs
were and wouldn't let me run them. I'm assuming that the .metadata file has
this information and perhaps the information that's causing your problem.
One of the things I tried was to change the name of my IBM folder in my My
Documents folder to IBM.old and then restart WDSC and it should recreate
your IBM folder. The only caveat to all this is that you'll have to copy
your entire source from your IBM.old folder to your new one. I don't know
if there will be any other side effects so maybe somebody out there with a
little more knowledge may want to comment on the merits of this solution.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] WDSc 'Problems during startup.' error

I had some problems with WDSc this morning and had to end the application in
task manager. After rebooting WDSc won't start. I get a dialog box with
'Problems during startup. Check the ".log" file in the ".metadata"
directory of your workspace.'

The short version of the .log file is 'MESSAGE Problems occurred when
invoking code from plug-in: "org.eclipse.ui.workbench".' followed by a lot
of JAVA exception informaion. Farther down is another error 'MESSAGE
Exception launching the Eclipse Platform' followed by more JAVA exception
information.

Has anyone encountered this before? How do I get WDSc to start again?
