Let me clarify: I don't doubt you're having a problem.

I personally use CAX 5.1 through the Internet on 20 boxes scattered all over
the U.S. and Canada; two shops have two and all other shops have one. There
are multiple OS/400 releases on small to medium-size boxes. My staff, all
using CAX 5.1 on Win2K, work on a wider scope.

I'm doing coding (SEU, SDA) and testing; I'm hitting that enter key pretty
hard. We have never observed any delay unrelated to iSeries and/or
Internet/network traffic. I'd expect a statistically significant number of
users on multiple Win2K desktops working on multiple systems to report
frequent hangs.

If you're having a problem, I suggest using Norton Utilities (or something
of that ilk) to clear disk clutter (including your TEMP folders) and to
defrag your disks. Make sure your Win2K SP's are up-to-date.

Don't forget to check for rogue applications with the Windows task monitor.
I suffered from audio dropouts for months until I ran the Win2K performance
monitor and found Windows was trying to reconnect to a phantom device every
seven seconds. I deleted the device and my problem was solved.

I have seen performance problems related to the use of "dumb" hubs instead
of "smart" switches, or from improperly-configured network devices. A
network specialist ought to be able to check for collisions or excessive
retries.
