Well, the changes are interesting, Don!

The scroll behavior has indeed changed.  Instead of noticeable halts at
random places in the text (although it seemed most prevalent when the
specification type changes), the halts are quite regular.  If you scroll
through a file using the arrow keys, a half-second pause occurs
regularly every 101 cursor movements.  It doesn't matter if you're
scrolling up, down, left or right - every 101 cursor movements, there's
that little half-second hiccup.

So, there is still that disorienting little jolt, but it's far less
annoying than it used to be!

The fact that you have to walk through four or five different
search/download/install/reboot sequences is in itself a bit annoying,
and I suspect it would be a real pain on a slow line or if you were
actually trying to get some work done.  But on my DSL it just took a
couple of hours of semi-monitored work.
