Greetings List-rs and Lurk-rs!

As I write this, I have no internet access, my ISP is having problems, so if this has been previously discussed let me know & I'll go look in the archives.

System Info: iSeries V5R2, using WDSC for iSeries; Version 5.0 Build id: 20030424_1135. Windows XP Pro 1 gig memory

I am trying to make myself use the JLPEX editor and get away from the CODE editor. My problem is; I know how to do things in CODE, and when I try them in the JLPEX editor, I run in to issues.

Issue 1: When I highlight a block, it is not a block like the CODE editor. I use a-b.t (I assume that means the alt-b combination, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!) to start the block. According to the help information on the LPEX BASE PROFILE, I found that a-r.t is supposed to do a rectangle, but alt-r brings forth the 'Run' menu. There is the menu option Edit > Select > Rectangle that starts me off in the right direction, but that is *way* to many key presses to just get the process going. I just found that holding the alt key and dragging the mouse will also highlight the block, but that takes my hands of the keyboard and slows me down. Can I get it to block like CODE does? I tried to set the Window > Preferences > LPEX Editor > block settings to "rectangle", which is where it is now, but the editor does not seem to acknowledge my request. Frustration sets in!

Issue 2: OK, so now the block of text (COBOL program) is highlighted. When I try to shift the highlighted text right or left (F7 and F8?) the editor gives me a cryptic one time message, "The chosen operation is not enabled." From then on JLPEX ignores my key presses to shift the text. How do I "enable the chosen operation?" I know that I can use SEU like commands and shift the entire line to the right or left using the 'rr10' or 'll10' in the sequence number area, but again, that does the entire line, and i usually want to do just a portion of several lines. Still frustrated!

Issue 3: Speaking of the sequence number area, how do I get rid of it? I have tried to set Windows > Preferences > Controls > Hide sequence numbers, but again, JLPEX does not seem to grant my wish.

I'm sure as I learn this thing, I will get more productive but for now ...
