Hey Simon,
I had a similar problem. Below is a set of things to check
that I got from Harry Tian in Tortonto. My problem turned out to be related
to the QQFxxxxxxx interactive jobs. Here each user id is directed to a
certain part of the interactive subsystem depending on where they work.
Mine was QINTER_IT, however the webfacing was trying to access QINTER which
is inactive here, so make sure that there is a workstation entry defined to
allow QQFxxxxxxx interactive jobs in your subsystem.
                                    Regards, Fergal

Hi,

I am guessing something wromg on your AS/400. Please check you have latest
PTFs for Webfacing,

http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=255&uid=swg27002213

Webfacing job will create virtual devd QQFxxxxxx, so make sure the system
value QAUTOVRT has big value to accept new virtual device. Also make sure
there is a workstation entry defined to allow QQFxxxxxxx interactive jobs
in your subsystem.

Let me know the result, thanks.

Best Regards.

My Question

If you or any of your colleagues can offer me any help, it would be very
much appreciated, and if not thats OK too.

I am tryng to get my first screen working and I can't get it to
display. I need any help you can offer.

OS400 V5.1 All Webfacing server PTFs applied.
WDSc V4 SP3 Applied
Changed the job description on my AS400 user id to include the library
where the CLP and DDS source code I'm calling exist.

I am only trying to unit test this just to see what a webfacing screen
looks like. I converted the DDS source code and it says that it was a
success.I am not deploying this to a separate WAS. I'm using the built
in one in WDSc V4.

I start the webfacing server using the STRTCPSVR SERVER(*WEBFACING)
and they start successfully. I've checked to see that the it is
listening on port 4004.

When I start the WAS V4 by running the server on the index page, the
call command for my CLP is shown, I click on this and am prompted for
the Userid and password. I type these in and then, the screen just
hangs with the prompt screen still appearing.
I've looked on the AS400 to see if there are any spoolfiles for my
userid and there aren't, and there aren't any spool files for quser
that relate to this either. There is also very little in the job logs
for the QQFWFSVR and QQFVTSVR. It seems to me as if there is a
difficulty connecting to the As400. However if i type in a userid that
does not exist it rejects it outright. Might it be a problem in
authority to a port ? QUSER is the userid allowed to use port 4004, as
the webfacing server runs under QUSER, is this correct or should it be
my own user id. Are there any other ports I need to change and how can
I be sure that it is trying to access the host AS400 machine in the
first place.
I tried converting the DDS a second time, this time I typed in the
host system to attach to and the userid and password to use, and when
i clicked on the CALL LIB/PGM it just crawled away as per last time
and didn't display anything. My best guess is that it is not trying to
access the as400 or else it is a sceurity problem on my part. Below is
what the console said. Logon Init is the last message in the console.
It doesn't time out and I don't get any error messages.
I need any help you can offer me. Thanks Fergal.

Hi!

I'm working with WDSc for Iseries and I'm webfacing applications right...
I pretty much figured out how it works and I got pretty good result too!
until sundenly, something terrible happened!

I can't no longer retreive data from the webfacing server. I mean... I
click on the cmd, the logon screen appears and I enter the name and
password and it starts to load... forever! Nothing is returned to my
browser. I know the Webfacing server is started and (apparently) works (if
I do not enter the good password it promps me again).

Now if someone has a clue about how to solve this problem please help me
because all my ressouces are expired :(

Thank you

Simon
