Much has been said recently about how long it takes to get a list of members, files, objects, whatever. Is it possible that you (Toronto) are populating the entire list before returning control to the user? Is it possible to return the first visible entity ASAP (first screenful, e.g.)? This is the practice so many of us in subfile land are used to. A PAGEDOWN triggers retrieval of the next set of records.

Or what about separate threads or some kind of background processing in Windows to get the remainder?

I recognize that network connections add complexity.

Are you doing this already? It does not look like it. But I have to believe it has been discussed.

I have a feeling many of us would be happy to have something that gives us the first screen quickly, then responds relatively quickly to roll requests.

Just thinking.

Vern
