Thanks Bryan.
I have set up the preferences as you indicated and will pursue this
further.

Hi Mike,

There are several ways to do this. To open the display file with code
designer, right click the dds file and select Open With --> System
Editor. This will launch Code Designer for dds files and Code Edit for
Rpg, Cl files.

You can also use the Window --> Preferences toolbar menu to set code
designer and code edit as the default editor rather than lpex. In the
preferences dialog click the "+" next to Workbench, then select File
Editors. Then for each file type (i.e. *.dspf, .rpgle, etc...) click
the item, click the add button next to the associated editors box. In
the resulting dialog click the external editor radio button, then click
Browse, and go to the WDSC directory on your local drive, and select
codeedit or codedsu, press ok and it will be added to the external
editor list. Highlight the editor, click ok. Then click on codedsu or
codeedit in the associated editors box and click the default button.

in I-series projects.

I have not seen a redbook specifically oriented towards rpg development,
but the redbook sg24-6600-00 is a well rounded look at the client and
should prove helpful to you.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] WDSC 4.0

I am new to WDSC and CODE, but am trying to make an effort to start
using it, but am having difficulties trying to figure out the best way
to use the package.

For example.
today i created a new Iseries project in WDSC and have created a dds and
rpg source file. I am doing new development and want to start programs
from scratch. Just for the learning experience. I then created a
Display file, but it only opens in the LPEX editor. I want to open it
with the code designer, or something else if there is something specific
to WDSC.

Can any one give me any guidance here.

Also, any real good tutorials on WDSC specifically for RPG developement.

Thanks

MIke
