I had a thought today.  Recently I've been letting Win XP close
down the Communication Daemon when I shut down my machine in the
evening.  Early on I was closing all servers, then ending the
daemon, then shutting down XP. Maybe some different path is taken
that messes things up if XP closes the application.  I'm going to
experiment with shuting down manually before I shut down XP.
