Rob,

The problem is that Eclipse introduced its own GUI library and if you want
to be well integrated you have to use it. So a lot of the existing tools
that are out there, even if they are written in Java, have to have at
least their GUI elements re-written. Code that is written in C++ (much of
Ops Nav) pretty much needs to be completely rewritten.

I think the hard part will be convincing the OpsNav team in Rochester to
rewrite what they have done for Eclipse. If they don't then there is a
market for third parties to step in and provide tooling. Maybe someone
like Linoma will rewrite what they have done for Eclipse and tie it into
the iSeries tooling in WDSc.

Phil,

The only reason that this is a stupid question is that I haven't taken the
effort to just check.

<snip>
  - ability to expand files to see records, and fields
<endsnip>

Here goes: Do you reuse code from iSeries Navigator? There is a lot of
nice stuff in there to see file relations, etc. Like, if I have a
referential constraint between FILEA and FILEB it will draw a diagram
linking those two.
