AHA!
I don't know what the problem might be.

I haven't done this stuff in 4 years...
I'd have to research it - Come on you System 21 MPS/MRP gurus - help us
out!

RE: [SYSTEM21] MRP Models/Item relationship

The issue is if a stockroom is defined to more than a single model i.e.
stockroom AA is defined in model 01 and 02, how does MRP schedule on item
?

I have a model 01 and 02, both models have stockroom AA defined.

In stockroom AA items 1234A and 1234B are defined.

When running MRP for model 02, only demand for item 1234B is created.

When running MRP for model 01, only demand for item 1234A is created.

How does MRP decide ? I don't understand how it can be picking up just one
of the items per model.

We do not have multi plant either.

Jim,

What is it you are trying to accomplish?

Yes, as I said, there are no overrides in PDM unless you have the
multiplant functioning turned on (not something to do lightly).
However, you can have multiple models without it.

Set up another model...say...02. Set up the stockrooms you want to be
considered when you run MRP for that model in the model stockroom
definition.
Run MRP for model 02. or (now I am really brushing away cobwebs here) run

capacity planning for model 02.

But - If you simply want to do supply type "what ifs" on one or two parts
there may be an easier way...

Let us know more of the situation...
Michele

To the list:

There is a solution to Mr. Kerr's challenge however to present the
solution
I'd have to discuss a third party product.

The last time I did that some subscribers took umbrage with my posting.
How
should I handle the dissemination of the solution's information?

We don't have multi plant. I can't find any override function for the
model/item either.

Ohhhhh,
You have to run MRP for that model...

If you want more than one otherwise, you are definitely talking multiplant
and model overrides in MRP (without multiplant on there is no overrides
for model).

Others'?

The stockroom the item exists in is defined in more than one model and
that
is where I am confused because MRP only schedules the item for only one
model. If the stockroom is defined to more than 1 model, how does MRP
control which stockroom/item combo to schedule ?

First the item's stockroom has to be a part of the Model's stockrooms.
especially if multi-plant is not turned on.

but I am very rusty...

How bout some others' input???

How do I control which MRP model an item shows up in when running the MRP
review etc.

I have an item that shows up in model "02" but I really want it as part of
another model.

Thanks.

Jim.
