Glen,

Jeff said it in a nutshell.

I was skeptical about RPGLE until I started using it over four years ago
(Y2K project) and discovered how awesome and easy the language is. Many
built in functions that allow you to do many things with just one line of
code. I don't understand why someone wants to drive a Gremlin when they can
drive a Ferrari. By the way Glen, there's also another version of RPG
between RPG III and RPGILE, it's RPG/400 which is also a dinosaur now.

Now you've opened a can of worms...

I cannot imagine what rationale someone would have for not wanting to use
ILE...

This could potentially provoke lots of conversation on this list... Maybe
it's not primarily a System/21 topic but it is an Aurora fact of life...!!!

And I have to assume that this "System/21" list will upgrade itself to
include Aurora...

I was reluctant to embrace ILE-RPG but I eventually saw the light and now
celebrate my conversion from the dark side...

I can imagine old school managers like I was who do not want to have to
support ILE code but that attitude will be as extinct as the dinosaurs in
the not too distant future... Adapt or perish...

It's really not that difficult to support and the advantages far outweigh
the learning curve...

That's my humble opinion...

Any one else have another viewpoint..?

Thanks.

That's a NONO Roy - I've been instructed not to use ILE.
