Check/change the CPI (characters per inch) setting on the printer file.

If A4 paper is 297 mm across landscaped, about 11.6875 inches,
then  10 cpi will print about 116 characters
      12 cpi about 140 char.
      13.3 cpi about 155 char.
      15 cpi about 175 char.
