PMP09 will give you all "3-way matched" PO lines items by order class
(ORCD09).  Inventory Items (ITEM09) can be used for ORDC09=1-4 and Non-Stock
item VCAT09 for ORDC09=5-8.  This file has the key elements you require.


The details of PMP09 will probably not balance to your ledger as Payables
may be entered manually, thus bypassing the 3-way match.    

My suggestion is to break the report into two: Inventory vs. Non-Stock.
PMP09 contains "Item Class" for Inventory items.  Item class, defined in the
item master, is used by many companies to classify the item into a category
specific to the company i.e. Steel, Fasteners, Packaging, etc.  This can be
used for segregating the report output by class, or you can always join
directly to the Item Master itself.

I am trying to put together a report on vendor spending that summarizes all
items purchased over the past few years including purchased parts as well as
services.  The report is per vendor/per item and will be sorted in "top ten"
fashion.

My plan is to do this over the files that show paid invoices but I'm not
sure if this needs to tie into any other tables such as parts, movement
files, etc. The information also needs to include total quantities of
whatever unit it is that was purchased.

Can someone tell me the tables I need to query, any necessary joins, and if
this is the best approach.
