In the back up and recovery guide they give the name of the program as
QMNSAVE. That is a CL program in Qsys. I haven't found any source code for
it though. Maybe retrieve source will work but I'm not sure.

 << File: ATT47915.txt >> Jon,
        I found this on Search400...

How can I submit a batch job to make a full backup of the entire system as
when we do with the option 21 of the SAVE menu?

This question posed on 12 October 2001

Since your system must be in a restricted state to perform a full system
save (like option 21 from the GO SAVE menu), one way is to execute a CL
program interactively on your console (which is in the QCTL subsystem.) In
the CL you can put a DLYJOB line indicating a specific time you want the
backup to start. When that time arrives, the CL program can perform an
ENDSBS *ALL and proceed with the SAVE commands as is run by option 21. You
might also want to INXTAP at this time. Remember to include a STRSBS *ALL at
the end of this CL. Since this will tie-up your console, you might want to
execute this CL just before your leave for the evening.

I'm currently looking at our backup strategy and would like to look at
scheduling an option 21 on the Save menu within the IBM job scheduler. And
was wondering if anyone else had done this and if so how!

thanks in advanced

Jon
