If this is a "known problem" why do you get a "WARNING" message when you attampt
to add a part that was previously deleted...???

I'll admit that the INP35F record is probably supposed to be deleted since the
warning message in IN002 is geared off of the INP34 file...

I hope JBA does not "FIX" this if indeed they are revamping the Item Deletion
routine...

I want that WARNING if I'm about to reactivate a Deleted Item...

I remember some other things they "fixed" that weren't broken...

Back in version 2 when I was doing customer installs and creating test
environments for customers you used to be able to maintain the Application
Definitions in STRM400 in such a way that when you went to do an ADD the
information from the last record you maintained was preserved on the screen for
you... So all you had to do was change the environment code from blanks to TST
and save it...

This made creating test environments so much easier, at least that step...

In version 3 they "FIXED" this little feature so that you had a blank screen
whenever you went to ADD an application definition...

This was a mistake in my opinion...

Regards...

You have discovered a known problem that to my knowledge will not be fixed
till SP6, that is the word I got anyway. Geac is doing a total rework of the
item deletion process. I do believe some shops have done some mods to this
process but it was a long and drawn out procedure. It would be interesting
to hear from some of them.

Keep your chin up as there are always more SPs coming down the road.

Has anyone reused item numbers after using the deletion routine. I found
that the records are not deleted from the Inp35F (item extension file). Any
know fixes on the item deletion program?
Thank you,
diana

If you run the utility 26/INU and retain no history, will you be able to
reuse the item number?
Thanks for your help.
