  • Subject: Re: Authorisation codes for Disaster Recovery testing

If I had a customer who was an oil/gas company I would
try to gouge them too! After all, look at the profits
they are making selling us petrol at those grossly
inflated prices. Whatever the market will bear seems
to be the watchword. Bullocks!!!

Seriously folks, we have never been charged for "temp"
codes for D.R. testing.

This is farcical. Shame on them for attempting to
charge you and shame on you if you actually pay it.

What if you had an actual disaster and your AS/400
needed replacing? Would they make you pay for new
permanent codes for your new AS/400?! Ridiculous!

This is obviously a nusiance chagre being levied in an
attempt to discourage the practice of relinquishing
temp codes. I have it on good authority that at some
point in the past a third-party service provider got a
set of temp codes issued to their AS/400. Only when
they called to renew the expired codes did someone
realise what had happened. This is obviously a
conflict of interest to Geac. Bad enough someone got
a set of temp codes, but worse yet knowing they gave
them away.

I apologize for preserving my anonymity but that is
the price you have to pay if you want to be able to
speak your mind "freely".
