David,
we took it one step further.  We purchased Percon Powerwedges.  These fit
between a screen and a keyboard on a direct attach device.  A undecoded
scanner can be attached to the powerwedge so any AS400 screen can accept
scanned barcode data.  cost? Scanner $500 Powerwedge $300 Cables $35.  I do
not sell these and these cost are in round numbers not exact.
