We have developed a Palm Pilot application for Sales Force Automation which
allows sales reps to take orders at customer sites, confirm the order (with
a signature), optionally print an invoice on the spot, and upload them back
into JBA System/21.

The information is downloaded from JBA files onto the PDA (Palm Pilot,
Symbol SPT1500, or HandSpring) by sales rep. Information includes:

All customer delivery sequences assigned to
the sales rep
All item master (stockroom detail) records
assigned to the stockroom
                                       of selected customers
All recent item order history for each
selected customer
YTD, MTD, average monthly sales dollars and
quantities for each selected
                                       customer for each item previously
ordered
Open A/R detail for each selected customer
including A/R from customers
assigned to different sales reps if
the bill to customer is the same

The sales rep selects the customer (with search by name, keyword, number,
etc.), enters the PO if required by the customer master, selects order items
from customer item ordered history (order guide) or from all item master
records in the event this particular customer has not ordered the item order
before. Item searches by description, keyword, number, class, type, etc.
are supported. Item numbers can also be scanned in from a printed order
guide or from the UPC on the product itself. Then quantity and price (if
overridden from the item master file) is entered. Various pricing schemes
are supported. Gross profit margin information is optionally available.
The sales rep will be advised when entering a price resulting in a margin
under or over a user defined percentage.

Default special instructions are supported at the order header level and the
item detail level with an option to print on the picking slip, invoice, or
both. The sales rep can modify or add new order or item comments.

When finished entering ordered items, the confirm order screen appears
showing order totals (sales and item quantities) with the ability to have
the customer enter a signature. At this point an invoice could be printed
(if selected) and the rep is done.

Upon return to the office, the PDA can be hooked directly to an AS/400
connected PC (running Client Access) or, using a PDA modem - dial in to the
AS/400 server and transfer the orders to the JBA SOP upload files. Internet
access is also possible. At this point, base System/21 takes over, produces
edit reports, and uploads the data into the appropriate Order Entry files.

Development of other applications is in process, e.g. physical inventory.

If you would like further information, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks.
