Go into your item masters and flag for deletion ALL of the parts you wish
you could delete and stamp them with an Enddate of today...
There is a report - 3/INR - Items flagged for deletion - and this shows
you those parts that are flagged for deletion...

Go to menu /INU :
Run 15 - Build item deletion logical files (Wait for this to finish before
moving ahead)

Go ahead and run 26/INU - Item Deletion...

This option is "EXCLUSIVE USE OF COMPANY" controlled so in order to run it
you will have to chase users off the system and end your Inventory
background processing jobs... OR... You can use the sneaky backdoor
method that I always use when I need to run this during the day...

Go to menu /INU
attempt to run 26 - Item Delition... (It will most likely prevent you due
to Exclusivity conflicts)
This does however set your library list the the way you need it for the
next step...
Now return to the menu and issue two consecutive calls as follows :
CALL IN940 (This gives you the selection screen for the delete
routine... select 2=Report & Delete, enter today's date and press F8)
CALL IN941CLP (This is the batch portion of the task definition... It
will tie up your terminal for a few minutes...)

Once you regain control of your terminal you will find two reports... One
that says what was deleted and one that says what it couldn't delete and
WHY...!!! Too cool...

It will not let you delete records for a variety of validation criteria...
Trust me - this one does work as you would logically expect it to and will
not let you delete parts that are still needed elswhere in the system...

Depending on what errors you find on the error report you will have a
roadmap for what you need to "clean-up" in order to finally delete the
ITEMs...

There is really no other clean way to do it that I can think of...

Good luck...
