We bought a bundle that included lots of software and five years
maintenance. We originally received a quote for 80 seats of JBA, some PC
software and the Vertex interface and a separate quote for a five year
maintenance contract. After negotiations, we ended up buying 120 seats of
JBA, even more PC software, some other extras (Constructor/@ctive Modeler)
and Vertex and five years maintenance for one lump sum amount (more than we
were originally going to spend, but a lower per seat price). I think the
Vertex interface was going to be either $5,000 or $10,000 (I can't remember
which one).

Dan, one other question. What did JBA charge you for the Vertex
Interface???

The JBA Vertex "interface" is a misleading term if you think of it as a
product. To work with Vertex, JBA modifies dozens of programs (customer
maintenance, order entry, invoicing, etc.) to support Vertex. So for every
new release or service pack of JBA, you need the new set of modified
programs that support Vertex. So what you get when you buy the "interface"
are the Vertex enabled versions of regular JBA programs.

We are told the Vertex version of JBA for v3.5.2 sp3 works with Vertex
release 3.5.03 (the release we're on). I don't know if this is the latest
Vertex release and whether JBA supports later releases. I believe 3.5.03 is
the first release of Vertex that is fully Y2K compliant.

The specific question about Vertex is twofold. First, if you upgrade to
JBA 3.5.2 sp3, what version of the JBA/Vertex Interface do you use, and
second, what version of Vertex does this interface to?

Is anyone using the JBA/Vertex Interface?
