RE: RPG Generator's

We use GeneXus, which is a PC based application development tool which
generates AS/400 RPG & COBOL, and then Java, Visual Basic, Visual Foxpro.  I
don't recommend using this tool to generate skeleton code which you would
subsequently maintain in RPG.  I recommend you use the tool to import your
current file specs, add others as needed and then generate and maintain
applications within this environment.  GeneXus has a strong database
orientation and can automatically normalize data files that you develop
yourself.  In that environment it is very good in an iterative development
approach.  It's approach is event driven like most other PC IDE's.  We've
generated hundreds of RPG applications that work with or alongside our JBA
applications.  If you want a tool that can generate RPG, but also do other
languages/environments, then I would recommend GeneXus.  If you want to
develop RPG programs only and/or RPG programs that call or are called by JBA
RPG programs, then I would recommend you look at other tools.  We've
successfully added GeneXus programs to JBA menus and accessed the LDA, but
haven't had so much luck calling JBA RPG programs and passing the needed
