Whenever the letter "A" is attached to a physical file name it indicates
that it is an audit file.  Audit files use the same file number because
they are mirror image of the physical file they are auditing.

Good stuff.

Page 65 of the pdf file (page number 63 of the document) has a small error.
It says that "File numbers are unique only within each application."  File
numbers are not unique with applications.  Example, SLP05 and SLP05A both
use the number "05".
