Dan

Well said. I'm afraid that many of us have discovered this also. There are tons
of areas in the base product that could be improved if only JBA would listen to
us, but they spend all of their time developing new modules or porting to NT to
try and keep up with SAP etc. Frustrating! Also the helpdesk in the UK seems to
be about the same. I have logged a few calls which I just give up on after a
while, and they seem to be automatically closed off without any proper
explanation. Its amazing that having been around for such a long time, they
havent got a searchable knowledge base to try and answer questions more quickly
- I'm sure we are all asking the same ones. Maybe someone should write a hints
and tips book.

Regards

Angus

Subject: Enhancements

I get the impression that JBA has no intentions of making any enhancements
to the base product set and that all efforts are going into the verticals.
I doubt I would have signed up for a five year maintenance agreement without
the prospect of any product improvements. We use the JBA Help Line
occasionally and they do OK, but I certainly wouldn't have paid $60,000 per
year for 10 support calls that take a week or two for a response.
Personally, I think there are tons of areas where the base product can be
improved. I've only bothered to turn in one request for enhancement and
other than receiving a confirming e-mail I never heard from anyone about my
request. I could certainly make many more requests, but I don't want to
waste my time. Also, I was shown Visual Components during my sales process
and expected to have some type of GUI client beyond the basic Explorer
screen scraper. It is my understanding that Visual Components have been
abandoned. What are JBA's plans in this area?

Any comments?
