  • Subject: JBA interface to Vertex
  • From: Mike Godson <mgodson@xxxxxxxx>

Greetings,
I'd like to sound the airwaves for information regarding the JBA
provided
interface to Vertex sales tax software (JBA release 3.5). Implementing
this package is one of my main responsibilities and I would like to hear
from others that have gone down this path.
VAT codes are used by JBA to classify customers and products. These VAT
codes are maintained in multiple JBA files which to me is totally upsurd,
but I won't go down that road now. We are currently researching methods
that will enable us to perform unit order overrides. JBA doesn't provide
access to the customer level VAT in advanced order entry. We feel this is
the only option available to for example, tax an exempt customer on a unit
order basis. Ideas??? JBA does provide access to the product level VAT in
O/E but then that causes tax reporting issues on the Vertex end.
Modifications appear immenent.
Our thoughts are this interface was designed based on JBA's roots in the
U.K. where VAT (value added tax) applies to the product. Here at home, we
tax customers based on location. Discussions with JBA to this point have
gone nowhere. I'd appreciate any input.
