There are three options in this field, the first of which is "ALL". What this does is it converts your search into a boolean search by placing the word "and" in-between each specific word you type in the text box. This tells the search engine that you want all of the words to be searched for.
This is just like the "ALL" option except instead of the word "and" it uses the word "or" in-between all of the other words. This tells the search engine that you don't care if some of the words are left you, just find any of them.
The third option is "BOOLEAN". This is a bit more complicated, and if you don't word the search phrase properly you will get a syntax error. What you need to do here is manually place the words "and" and "or" in-between each word in your phrase. So you can get very complicated here if you have two sets of words you want to search for, and it doesn't matter which is found. For example, you could search for "Josh and Tschida or Chris and Stormer" which would search for either Josh Tschida or Chris Stormer.
The score of a document is how HTDig thinks it relates to what you are searching for. This is totally determined by the configuration determine for HTDig. The end user has no control over this, but if we configured it correctly the higher scored documents should be fairly close to what you are searching for. The higher the score the better, but sometimes you will want to scroll through the lower scored items just in case.
The time and date are both covered in this option. If you want only new documents listed first, the select this option. The search engine will ignore the score, but it will still only show items it feels will be somewhat related to your search phrase.
If you want to sort alphabetically by title from A to Z then select this option. The search engine will ignore the score, but it will still only show items it feels will be somewhat related to your search phrase.
This is the same as Score, except that it will show the lowest scored items first. This may be a good option if you were unable to find what you are looking for and think it is at the bottom of a very long list of results.
This option will show the oldest pages first.
This will sort alphabetically by title, except that it will start from Z and work backwards to A.
