The idea of a BIF was only the vehicle to have a readily understood
'problem' that could be solved by calling Rexx. I was much more
interested in showing a way to have RPG and Rexx work together than
solving the BIF problem.

If I were working the BIF problem, I'd probably attack it form the
idea of a preprocessor which would generate code that would handle as
many parameters as were supplied by the caller. It sure makes me wish
I had access to the compiler's symbol table so I could interrogate the
data types, but I think I'm an audience of one for that symphony.
