This is ringing a bell for me so I might go back and dig around in my code but something about an odbc-jdbc bridge seems to be part of the solution.

A google for MS Access JDBC comes up with several hits - including an open source project JDBC driver - beyond that I don't know much more about this.

Hmmm.... I thought MS Access didn't have a database server? So you have to actually have the Access program (or equivalent) and point it directly at the filesystem object?

Therefore, a JDBC driver for Access would not be as simple as knowing how to communicate with a database server (like the MySQL, DB2, SQL Server or Oracle JDBC Drivers we're used to) but would need to know the internals of how Access works so it can load and process the actual database.

If I'm wrong, please tell me... I've not worked with Access. But that has always been my impression.
