When you create the service program you shouldn’t be referencing a service program containing the same proc. One procedure should really not be in more than one place.

OK, now the next problem.

When I try to create the service program using *SRCFILE, it is popping an error because it is finding the definitions in both the *MODULE and the *SRVPGM.

Definition supplied multiple times for symbol 'SCGETNVP'.

We are using Aldon so I can't alter the library list during compiles and promotes and the *SRVPGM it is finding is in production. Is there any way around it finding the *SRVPGM in the libl and triggering this error?

You’d better believe it!

*ALL will cause the exported names to be ordered alphabetically and the signature generated. Add a new export and it will have a different signature. Decide to specify the sequence yourself (in anything other than alpha order) and it will be a different signature. And on and on.

EXPORT(*ALL) is rarely (read never) a good idea.

I just found that Aldon is creating the service program with EXPORT(*ALL).
Would this cause my problem?

So, backing up a step, we use auto generated signatures. Where does
*PRV
get the old signatures?

I know the binder will search the binding directory for a
matching service program name. So, I would think that it could get
the previous signature from the previous version of the service
program. If you're not using a binding directory then that may be part of the problem, too.
