I was convinced that there was an MI function Chuck but can’t find any trace of it.

I need to edit some character fields - simply edits similar to what
would be needed for a date.

My brain tells me there are functions to do this but edit words and
codes only apply to numerics and even among the MI functions they are
all numeric.

Am I mismembering? or do I really have to do it the hard way? Seems
such a trivial requirement which is why I’m convinced I’m missing
something.

OT I suppose, though perhaps relevant to foggy recollections of a capability [seen] used in the past: The OfficeVision (OV) editor offered some forms of "character editing"; I do not recall using anything beyond the capability of /capitalize first character/, so can not recall what additional capabilities might have been available in OV/400 for char-editing.
