Hi all,

I originally posted this in the technical list because I'm using a display
file but Mark rightfully suggested I post here since I am using RPG opcodes.

I have some validations whereby I'd like to make more than one pass of the
subfile data.

If the data is changed, I would like to keep the SFLNXTCHG and one of
the field's
MDT set.

If I READC or CHAIN, the CHANGE indicators are set. If I UPDATE the subfile,
redisplay the data to the user, then read the same data, the CHANGE
indicators are set and everything is good.

If I READC or CHAIN, followed by UPDATE, then read the same data again without
first redisplaying the data to the user, the CHANGE indicators are not set.

Thank you for the replies so far:
John Smith suggested writing the subfile control record. It did not fix
the problem of the indicators not being set. It caused the READC to
retrieve the first changed record but the CHANGE indicators were off.
Mark and Booth provided alternate ways of doing things.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any other ideas.

Thank you.

Yours truly,
