From the V7R2 MTU

JV1 options support on IBM i 7.2
The JV1 options for IBM Technology for Java(IT4J) 1.4.2 (option 13) and 5.0 (option 8 and 9) are no longer
supported on IBM i 7.2. The default JVM on i 7.2 is IBM Technology for Java(tm) 7.1 32 bit (option 14).

Classic Java commands and API removed
The Classic Java commands ANZJVAPGM, ANZJVM, CHGJVAPGM, CRTJVAPGM, DMPJVM, DSPJVAPGM, and the Classic
Java API QJVARJPI have been removed in IBM i 7.2.
Any programs that reference these commands might need to be updated.

Well, jdk50 specifically refers to Java 5, so that could be it right there.

(In reference to Java 6 being the minimum for IBM i 7.2.)
