Thank you Charles.

My program is called from a large (and ancient) application created specifically for the brand I work for.
I have no access to code for the large application.
I suspect several of the SQL messages shown below are from the large application.
I've always thought "with replace" worked because this program is called frequently during our business day by several users.

SQL0601 is raised in *INZSR of my program

Six messages just prior are SEV 00:
SQL7912 Open Data Path has been created.
SQL7916 Blocking used for query.
SQL7913 ODP deleted.
SQL7964 Embedded SELECT completed.
CPI4339 Query options retrieved . . .
SQL7916 Blocking used for query.

SQL0601 LCP980WK1 in QTEMP type *FILE already exists.

with replace works fine for me...

Are there any other messages in the joblog?

Perhaps there's an authority issue with deleting it, or it's in use...

I'm testing a change to an SQLRPGLE which has been in use for some years.

The program object was created using PDM work with Objects to copy the
program from a production lib into a special test lib I'm using just
for this test.

I'm wondering why I received SQL0601 on the following embedded SQL:

DECLARE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE lcp980wk1
( delloc CHAR(4) NOT NULL,
deldat NUMERIC(7,0) NOT NULL,
delrte CHAR(5) NOT NULL,
pocnumint NUMERIC(5,0) NOT NULL,
outnum NUMERIC(13,0) NOT NULL,
pocsfxvp CHAR(5) NOT NULL,
vehnum CHAR(5) NOT NULL,
vehdcr CHAR(30) NOT NULL,
door CHAR(5) NOT NULL
)
WITH REPLACE NOT LOGGED

My assumption was "WITH REPLACE" would allow the table to be replace
in the event it exists ?

Would it be better practice to start with a DROP command ?
