Dumped a beater (and I mean "beater"; the hood was tied down with a heavy
chain with a bowling trophy wrapped in it) '78 Pinto that got me through
college for a brand spankin' new '84 Mazda Rx-7 two days before I met the
girl I would later marry. After the relationship turned "serious" and she
saw evidence of my prior ride, she told me flat out she would have never
agreed to go out with me if I'd been driving the Pinto.
