Justin,

Sorry, but I am lost. I did not say that 'a' and 'a' are not equal. I said
that 'Hello' plus 3 trailing 'a's is not equal to 'Hello' plus 6 trailing
'a's. One have to trim the 'a's before 'Hello' equals to 'Hello'. No doubt
about that.

I want to show that it is clear for everyone that trailing 'a's must not be
trimmed by the compiler when comparing strings. But spaces shall be
trimmed. That is not straightforward and most likely very specific to the
RPG compiler.

Remember, I complain about varying-length fields, not fixed-length fields.
It is fine, that spaces are trimmed, when comparing fixed-length fields.

Regards,

Thomas.

Not.

You say that 'a' and 'a ' aren't equal. Then are 1 and 1.0 not equal?
