I took a look at RPG NextGen a few years ago, it was a capable-enough editor. That's about all it did - I forget whether you could fire off compiles from it.

A couple folks at my then job used it - these didn't need the full kielbasa of RDi, as they were support, not developers, and it was good for them. We also didn't need to think about seats for them of RDi.
