If you want enhancements to OPDESC (and I 100% agree with you) you need to place a requirement (via COMMON if you like) with Rochester because it is an OS function. Toronto raised internal requests years ago but due to lack of customer demand nothing has ever happened. Null support could be improved I agree and I suspect it is on the to-do list but the architectural decisions involved are not trivial.
