I might play with that.

My work around was to put an intermediate program and use the new
activation group
mypgm calls mypgm2.
mypgm2 calls mypgm, which has actgrp(*new)

this may make more sense since mypgm2 could do some processing.

also mypgm is someone else's original code that was originally written
with no subprocedures and several subroutines. Doing it this way makes
the jump easier.

I am hoping that I don't have to go more than a few levels deep in
recursion.
