Hi All,

We have a situation where some of the barcodes we are receiving are padded with spaces that exceed the length of the input fields. It affects the subsequent input fields and cause the data to be invalid.

For example, I have a this:

Field One: 18 characters
Field Two: 11 characters

The cursor is in Field One and a barcode that is 23 characters (18 characters + 3 spaces) is scanned. When it moves to Field Two, the cursor is automatically at position three (instead of position one) on the next field. When it is scanned it overruns to the next field and so on.

Is there a way to either truncate the spaces (similar to a TRIM function) or tell the system to start the cursor at position one of each input field so that even if the supplier sends a barcode label that contains invalid data that it would ignore it and still position the cursor correctly either in the RPG or the DDS?

Thankee-sai!

/b;
